There are three CD3 subunits, epsilon, gamma, and delta, and they are all required for proper assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed at different levels on thymocytes during T cell differentiation and by all mature T cells. Binding of 145-2C11 to TCR initiates the intracellular biochemical pathway resulting in cellular activation, proliferation, and apoptosis, depending on specific conditions utilized. 145-2C11 is commonly used as a phenotypic marker for mouse T cells.

Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) is a cytokine in a family that includes 6 structurally related proteins (IL-17A through IL-17F), though most activities seem to be mediated primarily by IL-17A. IL-17 induces neutrophil-rich inflammatory reactions, such as stimulating the production of chemokines and other cytokines, and stimulates the production of antimicrobial substances. It is primarily produced by a subset of T cells when activated (Th17 cells).

CD127, also known as the IL-7 receptor α chain or IL-7α, is a 60–90 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein. It is a heterodimer consisting of IL-7Rα (CD127) and a common-γ chain receptor (CD132), which is shared with various cytokines including IL-2,-4,-9,-13,-15 and -21. CD127 is expressed on immature B through early pre-B stage cells, thymocytes (except CD4/CD8 double positive thymocytes), peripheral T cells, and bone marrow stromal cells. It can be a useful marker for identifying memory and effector T cells and differentiation of Treg and conventional T cells.
