Honeywell Hydranal Coulometric Karl Fisher Reagents

Volumetric Karl Fischer Reagents

Hydranal-Composite is the most frequently used pyridine-free Karl Fischer titrating reagent. It offers unlimited water capacity and the greatest flexibility for media, including methanol-reacting compounds (ketones and aldehydes). Choose from a range of media options, some with special solvents, for fats, oils, and other specific materials or needs.

About Honeywell Hydranal Reagents

A Honeywell Research Chemicals brand, Honeywell Hydranal reagents for Karl Fischer titration have been recognized as the most trusted brand in the industry.

Honeywell Research Chemicals and the Fisher Scientific channel are partners in providing you with high-quality chemicals at great prices. You can count on the extensive Fisher Scientific distribution network to supply you with the solvents and analytical reagents you need, whenever you need them.

Karl Fischer (KF) titration is a specific, reliable, and practical method for determining the water content of substances. First developed in 1935, the methodology has since been modified and improved.

In 1979, chemists at Riedel-de Haën found ways to improve the original KF titration in ways that improved safety, accuracy, and ease of use, and broadened the substrates. These modifications formed the foundation of the Hydranal product line.

Since then, the Honeywell Hydranal Center of Excellence has introduced 57 reagents and secured 50 patents. Hydranal reagents are manufactured to strict production and quality control standards. The Hydranal Center of Excellence has also secured dual accreditation (both ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034).

The Hydranal product line includes:

  • The first two-component reagent containing diethanolamine as the base; the reagent base was changed to imidazole in 1986
  • Hydranal-Composite, a single-component reagent with an imidazole base (introduced in 1980)
  • Halogenated hydrocarbon-free coulometric reagents (introduced in 1991)
  • Hydranal-K, methanol-free reagents for measuring water in aldehydes and ketones
  • Hydranal-Water Standards and CRM Hydranal water standards
  • Hydranal T-type reagents based on ethanol, reagents for back titrations, buffering substances, and Trockenmittel
