NEOGEN Fastidious Anaerobe Agar, 500 g

Fastidious Anaerobe Agar is used for the cultivation of anaerobic microorganisms and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A primary isolation medium capable of growing most clinically significant anaerobes. Developed by Lab M (Neogen Corporation), comparisons have shown this medium to be superior to other formulations as a primary isolation medium for fastidious organisms. The peptones included have been chosen for maximum growth stimulation. Starch and sodium bicarbonate act as de-toxification agents while hemin encourages pigment production in Porphyromonas melaninogenicus. Specific growth promoting agents are Cysteine for Fusobacterium necrophorum, Propionibacterium acne and Bacteriodes fragilis, arginine for Eubacterium spp. soluble pyrophosphate for Porph. gingivalis and Porph. asaccharolyticus.
NEOGEN Modified Tryptone Soy Broth (mTSB), 500 g
Modified Tryptone-Soy Broth has emerged as the medium of choice for the enrichment of E. coli O157:H7 in red meats and is incorporated into ISO/TS 13136:2012. Concern regarding E. coli O157:H7 has grown due to the severity of the disease syndromes caused, and the increase in foodborne infection, so too has the need to optimize methods for its efficient isolation. NEOGEN Urea Agar Base (Christensen), 5 kg
Urea Agar Base is used with agar for the differentiation of microorganisms on the basis of urease production in a laboratory setting. Christensen devised a urea agar medium containing peptone and dextrose that had a reduced buffer content. The medium supported the vigorous growth of many Gram-negative, enteric bacilli and readily permitted observation of urease production. Urea Agar Base may be used as a screening medium (along with Triple Sugar Iron Agar) for the selection of Salmonella and Shigella cultures for serologic classification. Urea Agar Base is also used to detect production of urease by yeast. Blood Agar Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. A very rich agar base which, with the addition of blood, is capable of growing fastidious organisms. The medium gives colonial appearances, hemolysis patterns and pigment production of indicative value.
