Boston Bioproducts Inc EDTA (0.5 M, pH 8.0) - 250ml
EDTA [Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid] solution is commonly used in various molecular biology and protein biochemistry applications that require the chelation of divalent metal cations, such as calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+). It is not soluble in water unless pH is adjusted accordingly. EDTA is used extensively as an anticoagulant in blood samples as it chelates the calcium present, preventing coagulation and preserving blood cell morphology. It is also used in cell lysis buffers.

AG Scientific Inc X-GAL, 1 G
X-Gal is commonly used in molecular biology in regards to cloning applications. First synthesized in 1964, this organic compound contains galactose, which is also found in casein, yogurt, and milk, as well as certain dairy-free products. An analog of lactose, X-Gal is hydrolyzed by the β-galactosidase enzyme, resulting in 5,5'-dibromo-4,4'-dichloro-indigo -- an insoluble blue precipitate. This indicates enzymatic activity. For example, X-Gal can be used in molecular biology to detect genetic activity in cells and tissues.CAS Number: 7240-90-6Molecular Weight: 408.61 DaChemical Formula: C14H15BrClNO6Solubility: Soluble 2% in DMFStorage Temperature: -20CResearch or further manufacturing use only, not for food or drug use.

The PLA2 substrate DBPC, is a sensitive probe for a continuous fluorogenic detection applicable to both in vitro and cell-based in situ screening assays.Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) is the enzyme which cleaves phospholipids to produce lysophospholipids and free fatty acids. The PLA2 family of enzymes is known to be at least 10 distinct members. sPLA2-V and sPLA2-X are selectively expressed in human airway epithelium and sPLA2-X in various immune cells. The basal expression of a third enzyme, sPLA2-IIA is low but becomes highly expressed during inflammation and sepsis. This enzyme has become associated with allergic rhinitis, rheumatoid arthritis, septic shock and ARDS. PLA2-IIA represents a target for the treatment of inflammatory disease. Phosphoinositides (PIPns) are minor components of cellular membranes but are integral signaling molecules for cellular communication. Phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate (PI(3,4)P2) is produced in stimulated cells by the action of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases (PI3Ks) and/or lipid phosphatases (SHIP, TPTE, etc.). PI(3,4)P2 binds the pleckstrin homology (PH)-domain of AKT/PKB leading to cell survival and it also has an important role in podosome formation near focal adhesions.GloPIPs are labeled at the sn-1 position with BODIPY-FL (505/513), BODIPY-TMR (544/574), or biotin. The sn-1 linkage in these labeled PIPs has been changed to a more stable amide from an ester. Results from experiments conducted at Echelon indicated that this minor chemical change did not have a significant effect in any of the applications tested. This item is non returnable

Phosphoinositides (PIPns) are minor components of cellular membranes but are integral signaling molecules for cellular communication. Phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3), formed from PI(4,5)P2 though phosphorylation by PI 3-kinase, activates numerous signaling pathways resulting in cell proliferation, growth, survival, glucose transport and protein synthesis. High PIP3 levels from disregulation of PI3-K have been demonstrated in cancer and inflammatory diseases. PIP3 is hydrolyzed by the phosphatases PTEN to PI(4,5)P2 and SHIP to PI(3,4)P2.GloPIPs are labeled at the sn-1 position with BODIPY-FL (505/513), BODIPY-TMR (544/574), or biotin.
