Use stem cell factor (SCF) to promote cell survival, proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, and functional activation of cells at multiple levels of the hematopoietic hierarchy. SCF is an early-acting cytokine that activates PI3K, JAK/STAT, and MAPK pathways upon binding to its receptor. Together with other cytokines like thrombopoietin and Flt3/Flk-2 Ligand, SCF is used to promote expansion of primitive hematopoietic stem cells and multipotent progenitor cells in culture (Martin et al. Cell, 1990; Kent et al. Clin Cancer Res, 2008.). In combination with various growth factors and erythropoietin, SCF increases proliferation and differentiation of myeloid and erythroid progenitor cells and a subset of lymphoid progenitor cells (Broudy VC. Blood, 1997). Mouse recombinant SCF from STEMCELL comes lyophilized with ≥ 95% purity; EC50 ≤ 20 ng/mL; endotoxin levels verified ≤ 1 EU/μg protein.
