- All suits should be tested according to:
- ASTM F 1052 Standard Test Method for Pressure Testing Vapor Protective Ensembles
- 29 CFR 1910.120 Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
- EN 464 Determination of Leak Tightness of Gas-tight Suits.
- Fisher Scientific service technicians are trained and certified by leading manufacturers to perform all required testing to ensure that gas-tight fully encapsulated suits successfully meet these stringent standards.
- This level of testing helps protect employees from serious injury or even death.
- Fisher Scientific service technicians strictly adhere to testing parameters to help ensure that these suits meet not only manufacturer specifications, but regulatory recommendations:
- Assign a unique ID number and collect requisite data (brand, purchase date, material)
- Visually inspect for tears, seam integrity, or degradation
- Perform a physical inspection of fittings, visors, zippers, and valves
- Conduct pressure testing using the pass/fail parameter, no repairs
- Record testing results and communicate findings to the customer
